Company background
Sencel Bioinformatics was founded in June 2001 by Erling Seeberg
and Torbjørn Rognes.
The company's vision is to provide superior software tools to aid
in genetic and genomic research and diagnostics. The name of the
company stems from the mission to make sense of genetic data
at an accelerated speed.
Sencel's products are based on several years of scientific research
at Rikshospitalet and the University of Oslo, Norway. The company's continuous research
and development is carried out in close collaboration with the Bioinformatics
group at the Centre
for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience (CMBN) in Oslo and other
academic and industrial institutions operating in the field of molecular
biology and computer technology.
Sencel's research, development and commercialization have been
supported by the Research
Council of Norway (Science and Technology Division, the MEDKAP
programme and the FUGE
programme) and by Innovation
Norway.
Sencel Bioinformatics AS is a privately held limited liability
company registered in Norway with enterprise number NO
983 558 526 MVA. Auditing is carried out by KPMG.
