Company background

Sencel Bioinformatics was founded in June 2001 by Erling Seeberg and Torbjørn Rognes.

The company's vision is to provide superior software tools to aid in genetic and genomic research and diagnostics. The name of the company stems from the mission to make sense of genetic data at an accelerated speed.

Sencel's products are based on several years of scientific research at Rikshospitalet and the University of Oslo, Norway. The company's continuous research and development is carried out in close collaboration with the Bioinformatics group at the Centre for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience (CMBN) in Oslo and other academic and industrial institutions operating in the field of molecular biology and computer technology.

Sencel's research, development and commercialization have been supported by the Research Council of Norway (Science and Technology Division, the MEDKAP programme and the FUGE programme) and by Innovation Norway.

Sencel Bioinformatics AS is a privately held limited liability company registered in Norway with enterprise number NO 983 558 526 MVA. Auditing is carried out by KPMG.
